ABOUT OASN

Site: Ohio Association of School Nurses (OASN)
URL: http://www.oasn.org

The Ohio Association of School Nurses has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for this web site.

Anonymous Information

Anonymous Information refers to data that cannot be tied back to a specific individual. Examples of anonymous information are Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. URLs are global addresses of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web. An IP address is an identifier for a computer or device on a Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network such as the World Wide Web. The IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are connecting to the network of the World Wide Web.

This site collects anonymous information with web analysis software. The information gathered might include the URL that you just came from, the URL you next go to, what browser you are using, and your IP address. In addition, it may include your point of entry or page of entry and the amount of time you spent on the site or on a specific page. This information enables us to determine what our audience is looking for and how they found it.

Personally Identifiable Information

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) refers to data that tells us specifically who you are, such as your name and postal address.

Member Only Section:

This site collects your OASN Member ID# and lastname when you login to the Member Only Section.  This information is checked against a database that contains Member Id#s and members' lastnames only.  There is no other identifiable information collected during the login or stored in the database.  The database is updated periodically to reflect the current OASN membership and is used for verifying OASN membership during the login process only.  No information is shared with any third parties.

Sessions or visits to the Member Only Section will "time out" after a certain amount of time.  The amount of time is determined by this web site's server.  Users may login again should they want to re-activate their session.

Membership Application:

PLEASE NOTE:  BECAUSE OASN MEMBERSHIP IS UNIFIED WITH NASN MEMBERSHIP, OUR LINK FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION CONNECTS YOU DIRECTLY TO THE NASN WEBSITE (www.nasn.org).  THE FOLLOWING POLICY INFORMATION WAS TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM THE NASN WEBSITE AS IT PERTAINS TO THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS.

This site collects your name, contact information, and pertinent Membership information when you join or re-new your NASN membership through this site.  The information is  encrypted during transmission.  All information collected for this purpose, including name and contact information, is necessary to record your membership.  Membership data collected is used by NASN staff to keep historical records, provide proof of professional affiliation, and create mailing lists.  Information is shared with the state school nurse associations and NASN's publisher.*

( Please note: *NASN does rent its membership list to carefully screened third parties for dissemination of pertinent educational and/or product information.  If you prefer to remain off the rented list, you may do so by checking the appropriate box(es) on the Membership Application form and/or by contacting the OASN office.)

Membership Feedback Form:

This site has an on-line Feedback form where members can send input to OASN.  The information required from the user is Name, State, and E-mail address.  The information is sent to an OASN staff member via an automated e-mail message.  The information is used by OASN staff only to determine the needs of the school nurse community.  No information is shared with any third parties.

Electronic Mailing Lists:

This site collects your e-mail address when you subscribe to an OASN Internet Discussion List. Your address is used to enroll (subscribe) you in the list(s) of your choice and to enable you to receive any e-mail sent to the list(s). Your e-mail address is accessible to only members of the list(s) and the list administrator at the OASN office. This information is not shared with any third parties and does not include any other Personally Identifiable Information.

Cookies

Our site uses a standard technology called "cookies" when you shop at our Book Store. "Cookies" are small data text files, which a site stores on your computer’s hard drive that can later be retrieved. The "cookie" we use will assign a customer identification number to each shopper upon each unique visit. This process enables you to retrieve your current Book Store order at any time during your shopping experience.

"Cookies" are an essential part of how the Internet works today. Because "cookies" are only text files, they cannot "run" on your computer and have no ability to search your computer for other information or transmit it to anyone. These links will enable you to read what your browser developer has to say about "cookies."

Security

PLEASE NOTE:  BECAUSE OASN MEMBERSHIP IS UNIFIED WITH NASN MEMBERSHIP, OUR LINK FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION CONNECTS YOU DIRECTLY TO THE NASN WEBSITE (www.nasn.org).  THE FOLLOWING POLICY INFORMATION WAS TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM THE NASN WEBSITE AS IT PERTAINS TO THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS.

Our site uses 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption from VeriSign for all Membership Application, Annual Conference Registration, and Book Store Order transactions. Please note that the Book Store uses frames and, therefore, the secure web pages are sent within framesets. Although you may not see the ‘https’ in the address bar of your browser, signifying SSL encryption, any information sent to and from our server is encrypted and secure.

Once the above information has been processed by an NASN staff person, it is deleted from the secure server.  Membership Information and Annual Conference information is re-entered into our data system at the NASN office with the exception of Credit Card information, which is not re-entered or saved data.

NASN safeguards this and all internal information by using a secure data network protected by passwords and an ICSA-certified, stateful packet inspection firewall. A Stateful inspection is a firewall architecture that works at the network layer.
